Mamma Mia, I love this film!
Mamma Mia! review
1st August 2012
I've watched this film many-a-time since this was released on DVD. I love the numbers, cast, script... even the special features!
Julie Walters is definitely my favorite character in the entire film, she plays Rosie, a lone-wolf who is crazy and a ball of hilarity! I also never knew that Meryl Streep would be that of an amazing singer! She portrays Donna so well and I generally feel so much for her during Slipping Through My Fingers and she sings The Winner Takes It All with such emotion and character that literally is superb.
I have never seen the Mamma Mia musical myself, but I wish I had the money and the age to go and see it!
The only thing I would say though is that I was not a massive fan of Pierce Brosnan, his singing I mean. I study Musical Theatre at my school and I know when someone is straining and I know when he sings it sounds a bit like a strangled cat, I know... because I tend to do that quite frequently....
I love the entire casting of this film in general. They chose the right people (except Pierce anyway). Whenever I see Amanda Seyfriend in a film, I will forever picture her as the young 20-year-old girl Sophie, she has that youthfulness and the naïvity in her acting that makes her character so wonderful.
My favorite number would have to be Chiquitita, even if it is not on the soundtrack, it should have been. The harmonies are absolutely wonderful to listen to and in general that scene is definitely one of my favorites. I also love Lay All Your Love On Me (I mean come on, a bunch of hench men doing really goofy dancing is something to witness).
I would recommend this film to anyone... just buy it, 'cause renting it once is not enough!
