How I Ended This Summer review
30th August 2012
How I Ended this Summer is set in the Russian Arctic and is a slow-paced visually arresting film; it reveals the fierceness of nature and its effect upon the people living and working there.
The meteorological station is staffed by seasoned veteran Sergei and trainee Pavel and is a somewhat oversimplified exploration of the generation gap in which the practical/physical nature of the older man contrasts with the computer orientated/theoretical youth.
Likewise, the motivations behind some of their actions are often obscure and the storyline is marred by a belaboured depiction of spiralling paranoia, despite this it is still an interesting and unusual film; and as a fan of all things Arctic related it is definitely the one for me. Ive just one query, what does an isotope generator actually do?
