I imagine quite a lot of people would find this film frustrating in that it offers no explanation. There is its beauty. If you feel that you need an explanation from your films, this one is not for you and I regret that you're missing out.

Sleeping Beauty, like its lead character, has elegance, beauty and poise. Leigh offers a rare insight on the complexities of relationships, not just sexual, but all relationships. How to give so much of yourself and expect nothing in return. To be that vulnerable is Lucy's strength. When you seek out material growth and adhere to what is expected of you, then you are left, figuratively and metaphorically, dead in the bed.
