Good budget- Bad perfomance
The Cape - S01 E01 - Pilot review

From the interesting graphic-novel styled opening credits I actually had relatively high hopes for this show. I say relatively simply because I had never heard of it before, so was understandably slightly skeptical. This lack of faith however was sadly well placed- although there was a good overall look to the show; with its decent budget showing several good locations, and for a TV show at least- a highly impressive 'pressure explosion', the acting was dismally average, with the antagonist having virtually no motivation (not one which makes sense anyway). Although some kudos to him as he actually had one of the better performances. In the end you're left with a show which was clearly trying to compete with the likes of Arrow before it was even released, but trying to do so with a character who is both new, and also generic- since who cares about a hero which dresses up as his son's favorite fake comic book character? In closing, a show which executes a bad idea in a well filmed way, unless you're prepared to watch a few more episodes to see if it gets any better- its probably not worth your time.
