Bridget Jones 3 In Trouble

03 Feb 2012 | Source: LOVEFiLM By Zayyaf Saleem, LOVEFiLM

The third instalment in the Bridget Jones romantic comedy series has encountered script problems that have led to production delays.

Bridget Jones’ Baby was due to start filming this month with Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant all reprising their roles from the previous two films.

However now, according to THR, “script issues have caused the creative team - especially Grant - to ask that the movie be delayed. Any stoppage...could lead an indefinite, if not permanent, shutdown”.

While some sources claim that this means the production is “basically dead,” others state that the script problems will be ironed out and "the movie will definitely shoot sometime this year."

The last time the film ran into trouble was when Bridesmaids’ director Paul Feig was attached to direct and write the script but eventually left due to creative differences.

With yet another difficulty to contend with, the prospect of the film reaching cinema screens seems slim – especially with Colin Firth highly in demand after his Oscar win for The King’s Speech.
