Colin Farrell is set to star as Doug Quaid in a re-make of Total Recall, slated for release on 3 August 2012.
The re-make is a contemporary re-imagining of the 1990 original and will be helmed by Underworld director, Len Wiseman.
The original, starring Schwarzenegger, was an instant cult-hit and is often remembered for its, ahem, titilating tactics with the iconic presence of a three-breasted woman.
Like many sci-fi films, the story is based on a novel by Philip K. Dick entitled, We Can Remember It for You Wholesale.
The story follows freedom fighter Doug Quaid, as he is plunged into a virtual conspiracy. According to producer Neal Moritz, this version of the film will be closer to Dick’s original story.
The news comes alongside the release dates of Sony’s other projects, I Hate You Dad, with Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg, and Here Comes the Boom with Kevin James, both scheduled for summer 2012.
