The King’s Speech, Black Swan and The Fighter all came up trumps at the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award, in Los Angles last night.

Colin Firth added yet another award to his mantle piece for Leading Male Actor, while SAG recognised The King’s Speech for its Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture.

Taking centre stage to claim the award Geoffrey Rush expressed his humorous side: "It shouldn't be called the SAG Award, it should be called the uplifting award."

Other big-hitters of the evening were Natalie Portman, who won Leading Female Actor for her role in Black Swan and Christian Bale who came out swinging with Supporting Male Actor for The Fighter.

Meanwhile things turned slightly more political when Supporting Female winner, The Fighter’s Melissa Leo turned her acceptance speech into a moral declaration:

"If we're talking about joining together and making the voice of the working actor stronger, then let's join together…unions made this country great because it gave a voice to the working people."

A surprising loser of the evening was David Fincher’s The Social Network, which failed to take home any awards.
