Eddie Murphy to Host Next Year's Oscars?
While no official announcement has been made, rumours are circulating that Eddie Murphy could host next year’s Oscars on 26 February.
Murphy has not taken to the stage since Raw way back in 1987 but this could mark his return, according to the LA Times.
Award Producers Don Mischer and Brett Ratner have reportedly entered discussions with Murphy, who is believed to be interested in the opportunity.
The charismatic Murphy would certainly be a welcome change from previous hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway, who were criticised for a lack of chemistry during last year’s ceremony.
Former talk show host Oprah Winfrey was previously tipped as favourite to host the ceremony, before Oscar boss Tom Sherak denied the rumours.
If you can’t wait until 26 February, you can catch Eddie Murphy in the soon to be released crime comedy Tower Heist, directed by Brett Ratner.
