Geoffrey Rush is swapping speech therapy for CGI, as the latest member to join the Green Lantern cast.
The King's Speech actor will voice the character of Tomar-Re – a CGI alien.
Tomar-Re is a member of the Green Lantern Corps. He will help train Ryan Reynold’s character, new Green Lantern recruit Hal Jordon.
Rush’s previous voice-over work includes roles in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole and Finding Nemo.
There has been little publicity for the Warner Bros. film compared to this summer’s other superhero movies, such as Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. However, new footage of Green Lantern will be screened later today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
The film, based on the DC Comics character, focuses on a US test pilot (Reynolds) who is recruited to work for an intergalactic peace-keeping squadron.
Sherlock Holmes villain Mark Strong plays baddie Sinestro, while Gossip Girl star Blake Lively will portray Reynold’s love interest.
The film, from Casino Royale director Martin Campbell, opens 17 June 2011.
