After denying news of any involvement with the sequel to 1982’s sci-fi classic Blade Runner, Harrison Ford is rumoured to be in talks for the long-awaited sequel.
Twitch has reported that, “Harrison Ford has entered into early talks to join the new Blade Runner”, which was announced last year and is to be directed by Ridley Scott.
Although nothing is for certain yet, it does come as a surprise given Ford’s comments on the first film’s production and his dissatisfaction with Scott’s final cut.
Even more so, the news is startling given that back in August producer Andrew Kosov made it clear that the sequel would be a totally new imagining.
“If you're asking me will this movie have anything to do with Harrison Ford, the answer is no. This is a total reinvention and in my mind that means doing everything fresh, including casting”, said Kosov.
If the story does pan out however, it could potentially mean one of two things; either that 70 year old Ford will reprise his iconic role of Rick Deckard, or that he’ll take a back-seat with a small cameo.
For now though, we’ll have to wait and see.
