Hugh Jackman has declared that he would like to make two versions of The Wolverine: an R-rated movie and a PG version for younger audiences.
Speaking to MTV Jackman said: “If there was ever a superhero movie that was going to be R-rated, it’s Wolverine.
“There’s such great temptation to make an R-rated Wolverine. I’ve always felt that. I know a lot of fans would like that. I totally get it.”
But the actor – who shot to fame in the X-Men franchise - also went onto acknowledge his younger fan base, suggesting that there is definitely room for a more child friendly film.
He added: “There’s even a talk of us doing two versions, as in finding a way for us to do both as you shoot it, which could be really cool. But you need to have a really good reason to exclude those fans.”
Marvel’s most ambiguous superhero has faced difficulties in recent years, what with mixed reviews for X Men Origins: Wolverine, plus Darren Aronofsky’s decision to walk away from the forthcoming film.
However things could be looking up after director James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) joined the film, earlier this year.
The Wolverine is released in 2013.
