J.J. Abrams & Spielberg's Super 8 Official Synopsis Revealed

Paramount have released an official synopsis for the eagerly awaited Super 8, directed by Lost’s J.J. Abrams and produced by heavyweight Steven Spielberg.

Up until now, there was only a hint of what to expect, with a cryptic trailer featuring lots of explosions, flashing lights and a voice over, which says: “Do not speak of this, if you do it will find you…”

The synopsis doesn’t give much else away but amps up the excitement even more:

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Initial reports linked the film to Cloverfield but Spielberg quickly dismissed the rumours.

Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Noah Emmerich, Ron Eldard, Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills and Riley Griffiths all star in Super 8, which opens 10 June.
