Jennifer Aniston has been dealt another box office blow, after her latest film The Switch opened to underwhelming box office figures, in the US this weekend.
The Friends star – who has never been the critics’ favourite, but has always managed to muster up big box office bucks - faces disappointment on this occasion after entering the running in eighth place at the US box office.
The film, which also stars Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman, flags behind explosive competition from the top spot’s Sylvester Stallone and gang in The Expendables, and a delicious new entry Eat, Pray, Love, starring Julia Roberts.
Meanwhile Jen’s arch-nemesis Angelina Jolie stepped out in London to promote her espionage-thriller Salt last week, the same night Jen star unveiled her turkey-basting comedy in the US, ramping up the rivalry between these two A-listers.
But it seems Jolie wins this round after her crime-capade raked in a cool £36.5 million in its opening weekend, over Jen’s meagre $8 million (£5million) over in the US.
The Switch – which is released on UK soil on 1 September – could face more favourable figures when it is unveiled over here, but we’ll have to wait and see.
