The biopic of Princess Diana’s vivid life is getting underway and Jessica Chastain is posed to play the lead.
The film, titled Caught in Flight, will see Chastain playing the late Princess of Wales who came to be known as the Queen Of Hearts to the British public.
Fourteen years after Diana’s horrific death in a Parisian road tunnel, director Oliver Hirschbiegel will focus the film on the Princess’ two-year secret affair with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Kahn.
The two began the affair in 1995 which Kahn ended a while later, reportedly leaving Diana heartbroken. The affair also ended Diana’s marriage with Prince Charles.
Speaking to the American Film Market, Hirschbiegel talked about, “the compassion and wisdom Dr. Kahn showed to Diana”.
Sources who have read the Steven Jeffrey written script however, claim that it portrays the late Princess in an unfavourable light, as a damaged lover who begins to stalk the doctor after he ends the affair.
Production on the film is due to begin next year but with two previous biopics not having reached production, only time will tell whether this film will actually get made.
Jessica Chastain will be next seen in Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus which releases 20 January.
