Liv Tyler is disappointed that she will not be a part of The Hobbit.

In an interview with Collider.com, the actress stated, "I haven’t heard from anybody. That makes me feel kind of sad. Does everybody else get to go back and I don’t?"

She acknowledged that Arwen, her character from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is "very much not in The Hobbit", referring to the original book, but added, "I wish I could go to New Zealand. That would be amazing, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen."

The Lord of the Ring cast who will be returning to Middle Earth for director Peter Jackson’s prequel include Ian McKellen, reprising his role as wizard Gandalf, Andy Serkis as Gollum and Elijah Wood as Frodo.

Cate Blanchett and Christopher Lee have also been confirmed for the film.

Orlando Bloom is still in talks regarding his return as elf Legolas.

The returning cast will join new actors Martin Freeman, who will play Bilbo Baggins, Jekyll’s James Nesbitt and Being Human’s Aidan Turner.

Former Doctor Who David Tennant is also rumoured to be in consideration for a role but has not been officially confirmed.

Production on The Hobbit began this week. The film will be broken into two parts, scheduled for release in 2012 and 2013.
