Ewan McGregor is in talks for a role in a Jack and the Beanstalk adaptation, Jack the Giant Killer.
The story centres on a farm boy, played by Nicholas Hoult, who attempts to rescue a princess kidnapped by a giant, and in the process repair the balance between giants and humans.
Heat Vision reports that Ewan McGregor is in talks for the role of a guard to the King, who helps in the fight against giants. Further reports suggest that the film will be directed by Bryan Singer.
Ewan McGregor hasn’t been in an action picture since The Island - his return to fantasy warrior could echo his most iconic role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, in the Star Wars series.
The project is New Line’s biggest to date and has already attracted several big names, including Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Bill Nighy and John Kassir with Adelaine Kaine and Eleanor Tomlinson in contention for the role of the princess.
Filming will begin in London in late March. With British stars Nicholas Hoult and Ewan McGregor on board this could be a rare showcase of homegrown talent in a Hollywood blockbuster.
