The retired and extremely dangerous crew still have some life in them yet, as news breaks of an ass-kicking sequel in the pipeline.
Summit have revealed that brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber will be returning to pen the RED sequel, although whether its A-list cast will return remains uncertain...
The original movie – starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich – opened with a bang at the US box office, raking in $20 million in its opening weekend.
Since then the film has proved its unbeatable staying power in cinemas, with $90 million in the US and continued success across the globe.
It also proved to be a hit with the critics, securing a nomination for Best Picture in the Comedy / Musical category at this year’s Golden Globe Awards.
RED is based on the cult D.C. Comics graphic novels by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamne, and is an explosive action comedy about a team of Retired and Extremely Dangerous CIA Operatives.
The film is released on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on 14 February.
