It appears that working on Prometheus has gotten Ridley Scott all nostalgic, as the director is planning to return to his cult sci-fi thriller Blade Runner, according to Deadline.
The North East born director is said to be keen to revisit the dystopian future, which is allegedly based on the dreary backdrop of Teeside.
Alcon Entertainment partners Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove are backing the film financially, making this their most high profile project for the studio since the Oscar-winning The Blind Side.
Scott got Alien fans’ pulses racing when rumours of the Alien prequel Prometheus surfaced last year, but it soon became apparent that the film would be a standalone story, featured in the same world and only sharing small similarities.
At this stage it is still unclear whether Scott is intending to continue Deckard’s story, go back in time with a prequel, or just do something entirely different altogether.
Scott famously butted heads with Harrison Ford during the original film so it seems unlikely that the A-lister will reprise his role in the reboot.
Either way, this could be a controversial move for the director – stay tuned.
