A decade on from the last Jurassic Park film, veteran-director Steven Spielberg is planning to set the wheels in motion for Jurassic Park 4.
The Oscar-winning director appears keen to reignite the film franchise, as he has been meeting with Thor screenwriter Mark Protosevich and considering just how to do it.
However, Hollywood and Spielberg reps are quick to stress that no one has been attached to write a script for the fourth film and that these discussions are exploratory.
A few years ago, the pair had plans to remake Chan-wook Park’s Oldboy, that was to star Will Smith, but these never materialised due to rights problems.
Rumours of a fourth Jurassic Park have circulated ever since the release of Jurassic Park III in 2001, which was deemed a box office disappointment grossing only $369 million worldwide. Whereas Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park grossed $915 million and $619 million, respectively.
The original Jurassic Park (1993) was a huge feat in cinema, with its advanced CGI technology, making it the first time audiences saw re-animated dinosaurs on the big screen and at such a large scale.
Spielberg is currently finishing The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn as well as Disney’s War Horse, both scheduled for end of year releases.
