The enormous success of The Expendables has spawned a sequel, only it seems that Sylvester Stallone will not be helming the project a second time around.
The first film grossed $275m, making it one of Sylvester Stallone’s most successful films to date. However, Stallone doesn’t want the responsibility of writing, producing, directing and acting in the sequel all at once.
24 Frames reports that he is currently planning meetings with directors to arrange the production.
In the meantime, the writers of Space Cowboys, David Agosto and Ken Kaufman, have penned the script.
Stallone previously announced that he is keen to see Bruce Willis return to the sequel, possibly in a larger role, and he also wants Jean-Claude Van Daame to make an appearance.
Stallone spoke about his plans for the sequel explaining that he, "had an idea ready to go," and he is, "going to try to do something that's quite radical."
So whether he’s director or not, it’s clear that Stallone will still bring his formula for box office success to the table.
