Tom Hardy & Christopher Nolan Talk In Depth About The Dark Knight Rises' Bane

Tom Hardy and Christopher Nolan have revealed just what Batman is up against in The Dark Knight Rises, and it doesn’t sound too great for our hero.

Speaking exclusively to Empire magazine the actor and director dished the dirt on super villain Bane and his skull-crushing past times.

Hardy said: “It’s just about carnage with Bane. He’s a smashing machine. He’s a wrecking ball. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it’s nasty.

“Anything from small joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns.”

Meanwhile, Nolan was quick to justify his decision to cast Hardy in the power-house part: “He just has a raw threat to him that’s extraordinary.

“It’s a very powerful thing when you see it come together, beyond what I had ever imagined. That’s what you get from working with great actors.”

While The Dark Knight pitted Batman against his most famous adversary, the quick-witted Joker, the caped-crusader meets his physical match in the next instalment.

Recent shots of Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne hobbling out of his car, suggest that Nolan has more than likely included the comic’s infamous back snapping storyline – ouch.
