Tom Hardy has given faithful Batman fans something to chew on with new information about his character, Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
The news of Hardy's involvement in Christopher Nolan's dark adaptation was announced last month, followed by an announcement that Anne Hathaway would play Catwoman.
Since being cast in the part, little details had been divulged, until last night when Hardy opened up about the role to Alan Carr.
He revealed fears that the re-appearance of Bane could echo Batman and Robin, where the villain was a barely a minor character.
He joked with Carr about Bane’s appearance in Batman and Robin, "Have you seen Joel Schumacher's Batman and Robin? Doesn't look very menacing does he?"
He went on, "Christopher Nolan will revisit the character, so I wouldn't go by that at all. I'm going to need to bulk up a lot for it. That's a lot of weight to put on and I've got to start shooting in May. I've got to go up to about 13 or 14 stone. I'm 12 and a bit now, so I only have a few months to do that."
When Carr asked if he’d be wearing Bane’s infamous gimp mask, he said, “Only if I feel like it”.
