An upcoming officially-licensed toy has revealed that Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will be joined by the menacing Red Skull in Joss Whedon’s upcoming film The Avengers.

In the same fashion as a remote-controlled car exposed The Amazing Spiderman’s antagonist Lizard last week, a promotion for toy manufacturer HeroClix has confirmed rumours about Red Skull.

The product announcement for the collectible toy reads, "charging straight out of theatres and on to your tabletop, Marvel's the Avengers Movie HeroClix set features heroes like Captain America and Thor as they battle the villainy of the Red Skull and Loki".

The last time we saw Hugo Weaving’s Red Skull, the Asgardian Cosmic Cube evaporated him into oblivion at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger.

But considering that we are dealing with the cosmic cube, it’s not hard to imagine that just like Chris Evans, Weaving could find himself transported through space and time.

Since Weaving and Marvel both have not said anything on the matter, it remains to be seen whether any of this holds weight.

The real question however has revealed itself: who could have known that toys would become the go-to place for Hollywood news?
