Ellison drops In Time lawsuit

Iconic sci-fi author Harlan Ellison has dropped his copyright lawsuit against studio bosses behind Justin Timberlake's In Time movie.

The writer filed suit against director Andrew Niccol and producers at New Regency in September (11), claiming the futuristic thriller closely resembled his 1965 work Repent, Harlequin! Said The Ticktockman.

In documents filed in a California federal court, Ellison claimed the similarities between his short story and the plotline were "obvious", but dropped his case on Monday (28Nov11), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Editors at the publication report the decision came after Ellison had a chance to see the film, which co-stars Amanda Seyfried.
