Jolie receives Bosnian housing honour

Officials in Bosnia have named an apartment block after Angelina Jolie because her visit to a refugee camp in the country last year (10) prompted American politicians to finance the housing project.

The Hollywood actress visited refugees in the town of Rogatica last April (10) as part of her duties as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, and met with elderly Bosnians who had been displaced by the 1992 to 1995 war.

Her highly-publicised trip caused ripples back in her native America, with government officials agreeing to donate £312,000 for a housing scheme.

On Thursday (03Nov11), 13 refugees from the camp moved into a new fully-furnished apartment building, which has been named Villa Angelina in the Oscar-winner's honour.

New resident Lena Babic, 79, who met Jolie during her visit to the camp, will never forget what the star has done for her.

She tells the Associated Press, "Angelina saw everything. She said, 'If I can do anything, you will have your own bathroom.' She could not have done it on her own, others also helped, but she is the one who is in my heart."
