Singer/actress Bette Midler is offering fans a chance to own her most iconic costumes as she auctions off rare memorabilia from her private collection.

Midler's famous mermaid outfit, her designer clothing, flamboyant headdresses, gold records, art and jewellery are among the items set to go under the hammer on 12 November (11).

The dress she wore on the cover of her 1972 debut album The Divine Miss M is expected to pull in as much as $3,000 (£1,875), while the Valentino gown she wore to the 1992 Academy Awards is set to fetch $1,500 (£938).

Proceeds from the auction will go to the New York Restoration Project, an organisation Midler founded in 1995 to help improve parks and community gardens in the state.

The collection can be viewed at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills until 11 November (11).
