Van Zandt's new drama makes history for NetFlix
Rocker and actor Steven Van Zandt is set to make history with his new mini-series role - the project will be the first released by U.S. DVD online library company NetFlix.
The Sopranos star, who also plays in the E Street Band behind Bruce Springsteen, portrays a gangster in the federal witness protection system in Lilyhammer, which NetFlix customers can rent from 6 February (12).
The bosses of the video subscription service will make every episode of the series available at once, allowing customers to decide for themselves when they watch each show.
Netflix's chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, says, "If you love the first episode, there is no need to wait until next week, or to set a DVR (Digital Video Recorder), to catch the next one."
