Walters honoured at BPG Awards
Julie Walters saw off competition from Dame Maggie Smith and Helena Bonham Carter to take the Best Actress prize at Broadcasting Press Guild Awards on Friday (25Mar11).
The Mamma Mia! star was handed the trophy for her role as Northern Ireland politician Mo Mowlam in TV biopic Mo, which aired last year (10).
The awards - which are voted for by journalists - also feted Julian Fellowes' hit TV series Downton Abbey, which was named Best Drama, while Benedict Cumberbatch was voted Best Actor for Sherlock.
The trophies were presented in a ceremony at London's Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on Friday (25Mar11).
