Why would I install the LOVEFiLM widget?

The LOVEFiLM widget gives you the opportunity to display the latest and most popular films or games directly on your site. This content is fresh and updates at the same time as the LOVEFiLM site. You can also earn commission on every sign up that your website's widget refers to LOVEFiLM.

How do I install the widget?

It's simple, just:

1. Log into your blog as the administrator
2. On the left hand navigation Go to: "Plugins" then click: "Add New"
3. Search: "LOVEFiLM"
4. Install then click:"Activate"
5. On the left hand navigation Go to: "Appearance" then click "Widgets"
6. Then simply drag and drop the LOVEFiLM Widget to the "Primary Widget Area"

How much can I earn?

Each and every sign up that your widget refers will earn you £7.50. The more you refer, the more you earn! Simply sign up to LOVEFiLM's affiliate programme. run by Affiliate Window.

Please note: existing Affiliate Window members must sign up to the LOVEFiLM programme for their sign ups to be counted.

How do I become a LOVEFiLM affiliate?

It's simple. Just follow the Steps below:

Step 1:

Click here and once you're happy with the programme's terms click "Join Programme".

Step 2:

Tell Affiliate Window who you are...

Tell Affiliate Window how they can contact you...

Step 4:

Tell Affiliate Window what kind of site you have... (Most Wordpress sites will be "Content > Fan sites" as seen below)

Step 5:

Tell Affiliate Window a little about your site...

Tell Affiliate Window how you would like to be paid for your LOVEFiLM referrals...

Step 7:

If you have one, you can enter your Affiliate Window invitation code here...

Affiliate Window charges £5 for each account set up which is refundable upon your first payment. However this charge can be waived if you email widgets@lovefilm.com and request an "Affiliate Window invite". Please include your website address and allow up to 3 days to receive the invite (via email).

Step 8:

Once completed affiliate window will review you application. You'll be emailed once approved and you'll be able to sign into your affiliate account. On the welcome screen you'll find your affiliate ID which you should Copy and Paste into the LOVEFiLM widget settings for your site.

How do I know LOVEFiLM will keep track of all of my referrals?

LOVEFiLM's affiliate programme is run by Affiliate Window. They also manage affiliate programmes for: John Lewis, Sainsbury's, Sky, Vodafone to name just a few. Your referrals be tracked and accredited by them.

Do I have to be an affiliate to use this widget?

Definitely not. This widget is open to anybody who has a Wordpress powered site.

Earn Share the LOVE points

What is "Share the LOVE"?

"Share the LOVE" is the name of LOVEFiLM's refer a friend scheme. As a LOVEFiLM member you're automatically enrolled in the Share the LOVE programme allowing you to earn gifts from iPods to TVs for each new LOVEFiLM member that you refer to us. You can find out more about the programme and select your gift here:https://www.lovefilm.com/account/share.html.

You can now use the LOVEFiLM widget to earn more Share the LOVE gifts. Simply install the LOVEFiLM widget, go to the LOVEFiLM widget settings and enter you share the love code into the "share the LOVE" field which can be found here. More information about setting up Share the LOVE can be found below.

Which sites can install this widget?

At this time only Wordpress sites that are individually hosted i.e. not hosted by Wordpress.com can use this plug-in.

How do I know if my website is built using Wordpress?

Most Wordpress sites carry a "generator" meta tag similar to the one below:

This can be seen when you "view source". However if you're unsure please email: widgets@lovefilm.com with your website address and we'll let you know.

Which type of Wordpress site does this widget work for?

Like all Wordpress widgets or plug-ins, the LOVEFiLM widget can only be installed on an individually hosted Wordpress sites. Those hosted on Wordpress.com are unable to install any plug-ins including this one.

How do I know if my site is hosted on Wordpress.com?

In most cases "wordpress.com" will be mentioned in the generator meta tag. E.g.

This is viewable in the website source code (right click, "view source"). However if you're unsure please contact widgets@lovefilm.com with your website address and we should be able to confirm for you.

My website is built using Wordpress but it doesn't cover Film or Games content. Am I eligible?

Yes we encourage you to try out the widget but be aware your audience maybe less inclined to be referred to LOVEFiLM.

My site is NOT built using Wordpress. Will this widget still work?

Unfortunately at this time the LOVEFiLM widget can only be installed on individually hosted Wordpress sites. Based on interest we may rollout to other content management systems (e.g. Blogger, Joomla, etc) in the future. Please email widgets@lovefilm.com to register your interest.

Widget Settings/Options

Where can I find the widget settings?

Once you've successfully installed the widget, simply log into your site as the administrator. At the bottom of the left hand navigation you'll see "LOVEFiLM Widget settings".

Clicking on "LOVEFiLM Widget Settings" will bring up the following options:

Can I vary the width of the widget?

The widget's width will default to "fluid" meaning that it will stretch to fit the area that its installed in. For example if you wanted the widget to show in the right hand navigation which may have been set to 250px, the widget will expand to fill 250px.

However you may choose to manually set a specific width between 200px and 350px. Simply click "Fixed" and enter the desired width (in pixels) in the "width settings":

Remember to click "save changes" when you're done.

Will the widget's height change as a user interacts with the widget?

No. We've been carefully to design a widget that doesn't push any content beneath the widget around as a user hides or shows different collections.

My website uses a "dark" colour palette:

Not a problem. Simply change the "Widget theme" from "light" to "dark". Remember to click "save changes" when you're done.

Can I show game titles instead of film?

Yes, simply select "games" from the drop down menu next to the "widget context" settings.

I have a website which content targeting a specific console, can I just show titles related to my console?

Unfortunately not at this time, however we may add this in future. Please email widgets@lovefilm.com to register your interest.

How do I enter or change my affiliate code?

Once you've signed up to the LOVEFiLM affiliate programme and you know your Affiliate code, simply paste the number into the field beside the "widget affiliate code" setting.

How do I find out my affiliate code?

Once you've signed up to the LOVEFiLM affiliate programme. Simply log in to Affiliate window and on the left hand side beneath the "your accounts" section you'll see "LOVEFiLM" listed with you code given beneath.

How do I find my Share the LOVE code?

You're Share the LOVE code can be found in your LOVEFiLM account settings here:https://www.lovefilm.com/account/share.html:

Simply copy your Share the LOVE into the "Share the LOVE" field within the widget settings.
