Brief synopsis of Black Water

Grace, her boyfriend Adam and her younger sister Lee are on holiday in Northern Australia and decide to take a river tour with Jim, their guide. As they drift into a mangrove swamp their boat is suddenly capsized and Jim disappears. Realising they've been attacked by a crocodile, Adam drags Grace to the safety of a tree whilst Lee clings on top of the overturned boat. Adam and Grace frantically try to manoeuvre Lee and the boat to the tree but it is firmly stuck. Stranded in the flooded mangrove swamp, the three holiday makers must work out what to do to survive. They must somehow elude a man eating crocodile, reclaim their overturned boat and get back down river alive. But will they ever make it?

Rated - 5 starsA real nail biter.

I saw this at a horror festival and was riveted by it. This has got to be one of the most exciting and best edge of your seat debuts of any new film maker since Spielberg's Duel or the directing duo of the superb Spanish chiller Them, by David Moreau & Xavier Palud . Can't wait to see the director's David Nerlich and Andrew Traucki's next movie. Rent it now.

Rated - 1 starsPainful!

In essence, boat gets turned over and 3 people get stuck up a tree. Thats about it really!

I have not watched one decent Australian film yet.

Yeah it keeps you on the edge of your seat, not because it's scary but purely because you wanna leave your seat and hit the eject button. I gave it 40 mins before I hit the fast forward button and watched the film at 10 times the speed and felt I had missed out on nothing. Like one of the reviewers said on her, 'If you are looking for a film about 3 people getting stuck up a tree this is your movie'.

Go ahead rent, but you have been warned!

Rated - 4 starsThink Open Water but in the mangroves instead of the sea.

Polkawolf Polkawolf from Bristol [Highly rated reviewer] , 25/06/2008

Simple but effective film. Low budget, no stars and no frills but this all adds to the horror of the situation as it makes it all the more real!

Well crafted and visually stylish, it effectively gives you the creeps and makes you constantly think 'what would I do in that situation??'

Think Open Water but in the mangroves instead of the sea.

Rated - 5 starsNailbiting story.

Wow, unlike Open water this film worked amazingly well with a nailbiting story that pacififies on the lines with Jaws and certainly beats aconda. All options are covered and you keep asking yourself wot would u do... then they do that and err it didnt quite work out add the facst that there suffering shock and hungry makes it more intensive. One to watch.

After watching this film with my wife we were left totally disapointed the film is based on a true story but thats the problem there is no story.

We did watch the film the whole way through to see how it ended to see if it improved but no, If you like one scene films and smart crocs made on a very tight budget than this is your film but if you like some action then steer clear.
