Brief synopsis of Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney 2: Justice For All

The second game in the popular courtroom battle series from Japan introduces four new cases featuring new characters, plot twists and gameplay features. Players resume the role of Phoenix Wright, a defence attorney who must prove his client's innocence against the toughest of odds and most ruthless of adversaries. Players must exercise their legal prowess as they collect evidence, examine witnesses, analyse testimonies and seek the truth to ensure that justice prevails. The game is characterised by its memorable characters, engaging storylines and unique gameplay format, all presented in a comical anime style.

Rated - 5 starsAn unique gaming experience

I ordered this game on a whim: I had never really heard of the Ace Attorney series apart from seeing the occasional advert for Apollo Justice. However, once it arrived I found it to be one of the most refreshing and unique gaming experiences of my life.

I wouldn’t say I have become jaded with games: its just that this games reliance upon plot, storytelling and pacing is light years ahead of most other offerings out there. From cleverly drawn characters to impossible (and often unpredictable) twists, this game has the ability to draw you in, and most importantly, keep you entertained.

Its far from perfect: its use of logic in courtroom battles and investigations often leaves a lot to be desired: to the extent to which I was sometimes reduced to tedious trail and error. However, these occurrences are mercifully brief, and the games engaging dialogue kept entertainment levels high.

While the game is of a good length, it has next to no reply value: therefore I would have no hesitation recommending it for a rental, and provides a perfect distraction from the seemingly endless legions of space marines that populate the gaming landscape.
