Brief synopsis of The House Of The Dead 2 and 3: Return

Two fan-favourite titles from the popular The House Of The Dead series are being compiled into one grisly, action-packed horror shooter for the Wii. Both The House Of The Dead II and III, which collectively have sold over 500K units, will feature the original arcade experience, complete with branching storylines, over six ghoul-filled game modes and bonus content. Gamers will re-live their glory days in the arcades and now with the new rapid-fire Wii Zapper, mowing down packs of clawing, biting undead is even more satisfying! (PLEASE NOTE WE CANNOT PROVIDE THE WII ZAPPER).

Rated - 5 starsExcellent zombie-shooter conversion

A faithful conversion of the coin-op zombie blaster. If you liked the arcade versions of these games you'll enjoy these just as much as they are practically identical.

The only difference I can find between the Wii version and the arcade is in the reload mechanism. In the arcade you had to pull the trigger while pointing the gun offscreen. On the Wii version you don't need to pull the trigger. This can be slightly annoying if you're trying to aim at something at the very edge of the screen and happen to 'slip off', causing an unintentional reload. The delay during a reload can result in you getting a nasty bite from one of the undead minions. But at least it encourages you to aim more accurately.

For those unfamiliar with the series, if you like shooting games, gore and zombies then this shouldn't disappoint. I'd rate HOTD3 over HOTD2 as the improved graphics make for a better atmosphere, especially if you're playing at night and you turn the lights down.

Rated - 5 starsOH WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MetalHead from Norwich [Highly rated reviewer] , 07/05/2008

This game is great!! i bought it thinkin that it would be ok, oh how wrong i was. ITS AWSOME!!!!!!!

the gameplay is quick and easy to pick up with a load of variety. the graphics might not be as good in HOTD2 but the gameplay definately makes up for it!!

HOTD3's graphics are way better and so is the gameplay as it is faster and there are a few 'levels' to choose from.

Overall HOTD 2 & 3 Return is well worth the money and the stars!!! i would definately recommend to people who love fast flowing first person shooters to get this game.

Rated - 3 starsso so zombie shooter

TheOrs from Southampton [Highly rated reviewer] , 14/08/2008

decent enough arcade shooter. personally I prefer the Time Crisis series but it's a good rental title and ok for at least an evenings worth of entertainment... maybe two, seeing as there's two games.

don't expect any depth or variety to the gameplay, it's just point and shoot. but as far as point and shoot games go, it's alright.
