Brief synopsis of Super Smash Brothers: Brawl

Super Smash Brothers is back with a variety of new Nintendo characters who will be playable in the game, including Meta Knight, the sword-wielding nemesis of Kirby, Pit, the angelic archer from Kid Icarus, Zero Suit Samus, the powerful Metroid series heroine minus her versatile armor, and Wario, who comes with a noxious attack of gastronomic proportions. Also included is a guest appearance from Snake, the gritty soldier from Konami's hugely popular Metal Gear series.

Rated - 5 starssuper smash bros brawl

A customer from yoxford , 01/04/2008

ive imported this game from japan and its definately one of the best games i have ever played. theres a total of 35 playable characters including mario, sonic, solid snake. my favourite part of the game is the multiplayer, even if no one will play with you you can play people over the internet using wifi. in previous smash bros game the single player adventure wasnt very good, but its brilliant in this game. there is loads of game modes and unlockables. this game has the best sound track ever. overall its just brilliant

Rated - 0 starsBlimey - disappointing

I found this rubbish. Thought I might have got the wrong game. Although I didn't like Paper Mario either and everyone seemed to rave about that one as well.

Maybe I didn't give it long enough. But it was just a 2D fighting game where you just bash your opponent repeatedly until they die and then come back to life again.

I think I'm missing something but I gave it 5 minutes and neither me or the other half enjoyed it one bit. 5 minutes might not seem long but I think it's long enough to decide whether or not you like a rental game or are going to send it straight back for a better one.

Well, I thought 'yes Super Smash Bros, oh no! Wii' But not at all the buttons are exactly the same from previous versions and you don't have to flail your hands around like a crazy person its just a nice sit down game...

Definite 5/5! I love fighting games and SSB, is the best out :)

Rated - 2 starsShould've been better

William Brown from Edinburgh [Highly rated reviewer] , 04/08/2008

This is all flash and bluster and no real content. Looks grand but after five minutes of bashing away and killing and dieing and killing and dieing and knowing that this was going to go on for longer than your will to live it just seemed such a waste of time. It's just stuff that's been done better before but with better graphics. Looks aren't everything. There's no feeling of triumph in winning or loss in defeat. You're just glad it's all over and you never have to go near it again. Run away, run away!

Rated - 4 starsBrawl you could want in a game.

I must admit I rented this title with a certain amount of fear over what kind of game it would be. Normally I'm not a fan of games such as Tekken or Soul Calibur and I'm still not because Super Smash Bros Brawl is as far from them as possible. There aren't any hyper realistic 3d rendered computer enhanced graphics, in fact it's better than that. This game looks exactly right, and your favourite characters such as Pikachu, Mario, Sonic and Lucas!? are drawn just as they should be. The game itself is split into lots of different modes. If you liked the classic Super Smash Bros for the Gamecube then the Classic mode reproduces it exactly. The stadium mode delivers the quick thrills of Home Run and Target Smash. However the big mode is the main adventure which is something I was not expecting. Instead of endless battles it takes the form of a platform style which plays like a dream. The cut-scenes it contains are fantastic, no talking like the LEGO series games but the story is simply incredible, trust me. Of course no review would be complete without the online battles. The only problem I found with it was that whenever I went to play online there was nobody to fight unless you had their friend code. However such a small complaint cannot detract from the fact this is an astonishing game and whether you play it with the Wii Remote, the Remote and Nunchuck, the Wii Calssic Controller or the Gamecube pad you are going to love fighting, collecting trophies and stickers to power up your character till your wrists are sore.
