Brief synopsis of Grand Theft Auto IV

The Grand Theft Auto series is given the PS3 treatment in GTA IV - the first next-gen title in the series!

What does the American Dream mean today? For Niko Bellic, fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity. As they slip into debt and are dragged in a criminal underworld by a series of shysters, thieves and sociopaths, they discover that the reality is very different from the dream in a city that worships money and status, and is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don't.

try just asking for the 'new' GTA when you go to the shop (or when you send your mum). getting a bit like monty python, try writing IV or VI a thousand times by the morning! And don't do it again!

This game is a bit of a disappointment, the graphics, while good aren't great, particularly at night when the murky filter they use to give atmosphere turns everything into a flat almost one dimensional scene where you'll struggle to make out anything.

The constant 'for money' comments from Nico become boring quickly, and you get to feel that as a main character he's far too lacking in character.

Whilst San Andreas was far too complicated with eating to get fat, going to the gym, pistol skills and the like, IV has removed all these which is an improvement, but it has also removed the building of a business empire and aquiring properties which had some of the best missions attached to them.

The most annoying addition is the cell phone/friend system, GTA IV expects you to spend time taking out characters you meet in the game for drinks and food, and bowling. Much like the girlfriend system in San Andreas. All the friend characters have individual stats as too how much they like you and how much they respect you, it might sound like a good idea, but it isn't. Taking them out is dull, and they always seem to call when you are about to start a mission, or save the game and quit, leading to you either abandoning what you are doing or them liking you less.

Why did they take out rampages?

The online was the one part which didn't disappoint, I was expecting it to be a waste of time and it was.

GTA has been great in the past due to the storyline and interactivity, GTA IV is seriously lacking in storyline, it still has the interactivity, but they've dropped the wrong things and what they've added has just been iritating.
