Brief synopsis of Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Peter Bretter has spent six years idolizing his girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall. He's the guy left holding her purse in paparazzi photos and accidentally omitted from acceptance award speeches. But his world is rocked when she dumps him and Peter finds himself alone. After an unsuccessful bout of womanizing and an on-the-job nervous breakdown, he sees that not having Sarah may just ruin his life. To clear his head, Peter takes an impulsive trip to Oahu, where he is confronted by his worst nightmare: his ex and her tragically hip new British-rocker boyfriend, Aldous, are sharing his hotel. But, as he torments himself with the reality of Sarah's new life, he finds relief in a flirtation with Rachel, a beautiful resort employee whose laid-back approach tempts him to rejoin the world. He also finds relief in several hundred embarrassing, fruity cocktails.

He's done it again. Producer Judd Apatow's policy of keeping faith with his friends paid off handsomely with last year's Superbad and Knocked Up. Walk Hard and Drillbit Taylor were a little... read more »

Rated - 1 starsSo bad!

A customer from London , 29/04/2008

There was no proper plot and the story tended to be all over the place.

Even Russell Brand being in the film does not save it, he just hamms up his reputation as a sexual lothario - should have gone straight to DVD or better still not been released.

Rated - 5 starsSo so funny!

Corinne Morgon from Ruislip, England , 27/04/2008

A fantastic American comedy given a good old British boost with Russell Brand. Made by the guys from Knocked Up and Superbad, I knew this was going to be great - I wasn't disappointed. Fantastic film. Just see it!

Rated - 5 starsMust for HIMYM fans!!!

A customer from N. Wales , 27/04/2008

Expecting great things when I saw Jason Segal (HIMYM) wrote this film, but I was still a bit concerned about 2 hours of Russell Brand playing...Russell Brand! Thankfully he wasn't and this film turned out to be THE movie of 2008 for me. Kristen Bell was absolutely gorgeous and the perfect choice as Sarah Marshall, Paul Rudd added his usual supporting comedy role but this time as a hot, stoned surfer dude, and Jason Segal was hiliarious and heartwarming, although warning to anyone taking their mother to see this film, he is naked. Alot. Really naked.

If you want one reason to watch this film make it the amazing genius play in the middle of the film. All I'm going to say is 'Psychiatrist', puppets, musical and Dracula. Genius! Undoubtably 5 stars.

Rated - 4 starsLots of fun, and not just a chick flick...

PaulaWestwood from Ashton-Under-Lyne [Highly rated reviewer] , 06/05/2008

Having perhaps seen the previews and read the blog for this, you could be forgiven, like me,

in thinking this would be a simple chick flick com, bad boys girls get own back, girs live happily ever after romp. Not so, simple as this is, it has a bit of an edge over and above a run of the mill chick flick and aided by a very superbly intentionally hammy Russel Brand, this drags what could have been a samey US comedy into an altogether other realm, a completely funny and watchable love triangle (or quadrangle) that never goes far off being total entertainment, I really loved every minute, definately worth a watch.

Rated - 3 starsWas pretty good... I suppose

CC from Sutton Coldfield [Highly rated reviewer] , 29/04/2008

Not quite what I expected, but was pretty good. Left with a feeling of 'hmmm, that was ok, but not brilliant, but not sure why'. Still puzzled now! It's a very mild comedy (not the side splitting film I was expecting), but some great performances by the 4 main characters. Russell Brand was very good, Mila Kunis played so many facets of a mixed 'attractive' personality so well. It was believable, as was the story line. A little corny at times, but a nice edge of very dry humour. Worth a watch.
