this film is superb. 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth - 3-D' stars Brendan Fraser as Trevor, Josh Hutcherson as Sean and Anita Briem as Hannah, and is an adaptation of the novel Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne.

A science professor whose radical theories have completely tarnished his reputation, goes backpacking across Iceland with his two companions, to locate his missing brother.

Whilst hiking up a mountain, the explorers fall into a deep pit, taking them to the 'center of the Earth.'

As they get used to their surroundings, they find a cave that leads them deeper and deeper, down into the bowels of the planet.

And as so they continue onwards, on a quest to find out what has happened to the scientist's missing brother, Trevor, his nephew and their mountain guide, discovers a fantastic and dangerous lost world in the center of the earth.

There they discover a bizarre landscape filled with terrifying creatures.

Subsequently the eruption of a massive volcano causes a sudden increase in temperature, forcing the trio to make a daring escape, before the heat and other dangers can overpower them.

Will they escape a grizzily fate...? Watch the film to find out...........

Disney at a tipping point.

The execution of this movie is more 'a blueprint for a theme park more than a movie'.

It clearly shows what can be done with Digital 3D and with that in mind there are a load of movies that I would love to see in this - typically SciFi and the conceptualization of User Interfaces not possible until now.

Watching the movie requires Read-D glasses and an enhanced ticket price of an extra £3 or more.

The story line is weak as is a rushed version of previous executions of this story. If you take away the effects you will feel cheated.

So all you are left with is the new Disney World ' theme park ride' that has...

A good Rollercoaster setup (now if only Final Destination was done in Digital 3-D)

the falling down tunnels (water flume rides), the underwater scenes, and that sodding, over used 'cute' blue bird. (its now not a crime to want to murder Disney).

And to follow this is the next project - 'Journey to Atlantis' :(.

So this is one to ONLY see at the movies - as on DVD it will have to rely on the story.

On the brighter side....

I would pay the extra £3+ just for seeing a movie in 3-D till the novelty wore off.

I would love to see BattleStar Galatica or StarTrek-TNG or StarGate in this where you have a large immersive space for action scenes.

Then add to that well thought out (and synchronized sound stage) you cant help having a winner.

This will pull people back to the movies in their droves as it is not possible at home even with the best Blue Ray setup to have anything like this.

What Disney has done is a load of CHEAP special effects (the bouncing coloured balls, the insect licking your face - plenty of Trite/Predictable game park STOCK effects.

This leaves you with the feeling of Shallow Manipulation. You have just been mugged!

If you are a 5yo kid and not been to see this at a Disney Theme park it will be fun for the kids, if you are an adult, you will be looking at what could be.

So you cannot expect anything more from a Theme Park Ride company, but you could expect more from a movie company.

I will never be watching this movie again except when it is on at christmas - as once it has ended at the cinema it will make its way quicly to the supermarket clearence shelves.

Dissappointment - thy name is Disney.

I pretty much enjoyed this, though the whole thing had the feel of a contrived and forced plot just to get something out in 3D, which worked pretty well in a reasonable-ish story. The effects saved the movie. I've found that even with the young talent of Josh Hutcherson (firehouse dog, Terabithia etc) and a very cute Anita Briem in her first major movie, the over the top crassness of Brendan Fraser is just really uneasy on the eye. Worth watching with young kids, but if they are over 11 you will have a trouble keeping them remotely interested. Might be worth a go...if only to get your 3D goggles on again. By the way did anyone notice Briem was called Hannah Asgeirsson in the movie...? An impossibility... as (check out Bjork Gumundsdottir)... in Iceland you take the name son or daughter from your parent absolutely dependent upon if you are male or female.. she could not then possibly have been Asgiersson (unless she was hiding something).

Great old-fashioned fun adventure film. Brendan Fraser excells at this sort of movie, and it was a joy to watch from start to finish - especially in 3D! Personally, this sort of movie is probably my favourite. It doesn't have an intricate plot or Oscar-winning performances. If you want that, you obviously wouldn't watch this. What it does offer is non-stop action thrills, loveable characters and feelgood humour for all the family. It can be a bit predictable, even for this genre of movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed it all the same. It isn't perfect by any means, but it doesn't really try to be and doesn't take itself too seriously. And the 3D effect was awesome too - it really opened my eyes as to how totally un-3D regular movies are. It wasn't just the action moments where things jump out of the screen, but also the times when characters are just speaking. There is so much depth to the room and it's surroundings, it's truly something special. I can't wait to see this more in movies. Although I did love this aspect of the film, I do look forward to future films that take more advantage of the effect's real potential, as I felt this was only the beginning to a truly groundbreaking visual experience. Overall, I highly recommend this film, even non-3D viewing would have been cool. It's good fun entertainment at it's best.
