Brief synopsis of You Don't Mess With the Zohan

Funnymen Robert Smigel, Adam Sandler, and Judd Apatow join forces to pen this comedy about an ex-Israeli soldier. Zohan (Sandler) may be a master with weapons and hand-to-hand combat, but all he really wants to do is cut hair in New York City.

Oy gewalt! Adam Sandler has been playing it relatively straight recently – yes, even in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry – but he embraces his comedy nut here with such gusto, it’ read more »

Rated - 0 starsthe worst film i have ever seen

jojo69 from Newcastle upon Tyne [Highly rated reviewer] , 26/08/2008

My god, i almost walked out half way through. My boyfriend loves stuff like this and even he hated it. Everything is way over the top to be funny, it was a little offensive in honesty. I love a good funny movie, but seriously, i have never felt so disapointed after watching a movie!

And really, what the heck is Mariah Carey doing in it, shes just terrible!!!!!!!

Watch if you are very drunk or stoned for mild enjoyment, otherwise, avoid!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated - 4 starsCrazy Sandler & Friends

Joi from Rochester [Highly rated reviewer] , 20/08/2008

If Adam Sandlers’ brand of over the top humour is your choice, then this movie will definitely appeal…. It’s crazy and has the usual line up of his friends, “The Happy Madison Production” stars. Their on screen chemistry make all the moves, lines and any other madness seem normal and ok. I enjoyed the movie, as this much stupidity goes a long way toward making the world a saner place. There is a lot of play on the Middle East political situation, added to the mix, the fact Adam Sandlers character is supposedly from 'Mossad' and wants a new life. This could make for a few sensitive spots, but tongue in cheek the group Adam Sandler, John Turturro, Rob Schneider and the rest of the insane cast carry it off leaving one laughing at their stupid gags and quite politically incorrect antics. I would defiantly watch this again and possibly find a new gem on the pebbled beach of comedic life.

Rated - 0 starsTerrible film and offensive

A customer from Leicester , 23/10/2008

I have never been a fan of Adam Sandler and this film demonstrates why. It is such an awful, bigoted and racist film. None of the gags are funny, they are just plain offensive, because this film continuously makes a mockery of the Middle East, in particular, Arabs (they were portrayed as idiotic savages, whereas the zionists were portrayed as saviours of mankind, sent by the almighty).

It is completely absurd, if one bears in mind that Israel has the worst human rights abuse records in documented history.

This film was clearly made to propagate zionist agenda and I am not a big fan of racism.

Rated - 0 starsDon't bother with this rubbish

A customer from Downpatrick , 26/10/2008

I've enjoyed a lot of Sandler's films. This is definitely not one of them. This is rubbish, pure and simple.

Sandler's ridiculous accent is often too thick to be understandable, his OTT moves get to the stage were you can't even laugh at them and to top that off, to become this overly successful hairstylist, he offers something extra - after cutting the hair of old ladies, he takes them into the back room and sleeps with them. Nice! Then strangely, his love interest isn't even put off by any of this...likely isn't it?

Not funny and even the stunts are too over the top to be entertaining. Sandler can do so much better than this.
