Brief synopsis of Righteous Kill

Two veteran New York City detectives (De Niro and Pacino) work to identify the possible connection between a recent murder and a case they believe they solved years ago; is there a serial killer on the loose, and did they perhaps put the wrong person behind bars?

Rated - 2 starsGrumpy Old Cops

Ok,I'll cut straight to the chase-this is quite probably the worse film I have seen so far this year.De Niro AND Pacino playing a couple of veteran, maverick cops in a New York set thriller, this is going to be awesome right?Well,er,no actually wrong.Where to begin? A very poor script, two of the most tired performances either actor has ever given,a twist a chimp could telegraph fifteen minutes into proceedings, and a plot that the writers of Kojak would've rejected for being too far-fetched.The only reason I stuck with this and didn't walk out,was the fact that De Niro and Pacino have featured in some of the best films of the last 30 years. This is most definitely not one of them. It's painful watching these two screen acting heavyweights spout second rate TV movie dialogue, and looking like they only turned up for the paycheck.I never thought I'd say this about a film starring two of my all-time favourite actors, but here goes-AVOID.

Just saw this in the USA (Sept 08) - what can I say, you get the performances that you would expect from these two brilliant actors - very good - nothing more to add!

Rated - 5 starsA very great cop thriller with a great cast

crockery from Belfast [Highly rated reviewer] , 28/09/2008

A very great cop thriller with a great cast, Righteous Kill was an amazing drama/action movie. The movie really made you think you know who the killer is but then you get lots of twists and turns. The movie was kind of hard to follow. So you have to pay attention extra closely. The acting was amazing. Al Pachino was brilliant and very entertaining. Robert Deniro did a great job as well playing a hot headed cop. He was very fun to watch at many different scenes. The two actors didn't show their age at all. The movie wasn't loaded with action at all. It didn't have a ton of sex either. The movie did have a ton of swearing though. I thought this was one of my favorite movies I have seen in my life. I think the cast was picked perfectly. The story was brilliant. The way they start the movie off with Deniro telling the story as the movie goes along was cool. Definitely a movie I would see again to make sure I understood it correctly. The movie does not have any boring spots at all. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. You wait and wait to see how the movie will end. BY the end of the movie it ended on a great level. If you think you know what going on think again. Nothing is what it seems in this movie. Overall one of the greatest cop thrillers I have seen In many years if not the best.

Great to see these two fantastic actors together again, although the story tries to twist and turn, you can pretty much work out what's happening, before it is revealed. Could have been better!
