Brief synopsis of Men In Black - BLU-RAY Version

In the 1950s a super-secret government agency was formed to monitor and police the activities of extraterrestrial aliens on the planet Earth. Some 40 years later a founding father of the agency, Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones), finds himself with a new smart-mouthed partner fresh from the NYPD who is soon dubbed Agent Jay (Will Smith). Their first mission is to save the Earth from destruction by a giant insectlike alien (Vincent D'Onfrio) that, incidentally, drives an exterminator's truck. Armed with their matching Ray-Bans, skinny ties, and space-age weapons that Jay barely understands he calls the Neuralyzer the 'flashy thing' the new duo begin another average day of fighting intergalactic terrorists. An amazingly hip and terribly clever movie that riffs on everything from E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL to CASABLANCA, this Barry Sonnenfeld film is based on the equally savvy comic book by Lowell Cunningham.

Rated - 3 starsGood Film but Awful BD LIVE

ArnieJ from cornwall , 01/07/2008

I rented this because it was to be the first blu-ray disc to use the new BD LIVE functionality, Having a PS3 I wanted to try out this new technology. In case you don't know what BD LIVE is, it is the ability to download extra content from the web.

I was surprised that more has not been made about the launching of the first disc to have BD LIVE built in then I watched this disc and the lack of publicity became clearer, the current items you get to use basically involve downloading trailers for older films. There was only one extra bit to do with the film which was a quiz. The BD LIVE had other options, but when clicked it said coming soon!

I think the potential of BD LIVE will be great once the content is there to back it up, but until then it really is not worth it.

I am glad I rented this film to see what BD LIVE is all about, at least I know how rubbish it is currently, and did not pay the extortionate amounts that shops command for Blu-Ray films, even the really old films like this film are expensive!

What can i say, its a classic family film, funny and fast moving so the kids dont get bored watching it. I love these films. If you havnt seen it before (where have you been!!) or if you just havnt seen it for a while stick it on your list, it's worth it.
