Brief synopsis of Waitress

Jenna is a small-town waitress at Joe's Diner, who has a great knack at making delicious pies there. However, Jenna is in an unhappy marriage to her controlling and immature husband, Earl, who always takes the money she works hard for, but Jenna keeps some of it hidden from him.

Jenna suddenly finds her life has taken an unexpected turn when she discovers she's pregnant with Earl's baby. But the unhappy pregnancy changes Jenna's life as she becomes determined to win the $25,000 pie contest prize money and begins an affair with her handsome, married gynecologist that gives her confidence and an attempt at happiness.

Feel good film with a big pie-shaped heart!

I didnt quite know what to expect but thought I would give it a go, judging by some of the other reviewers - so glad I did! This is funny, smart and sassy, and a bit of a tear jerker! Jenna (Keri Russell) is in a very unhappy marriage with the loathsome Earl. He controls and dictates her life. Her only love at this point in time is her ability to make the best pies at the little diner she works in. There she works with her 2 best friends - wild and wonderful Becky and the sweet and lovely Dawn (played by Adrienne Shelly who I later found out had been murdered after this film was made which in itself makes this film a tragic triumph). She also has a fondness for old Joe, a grumpy but kindly old man. Jenna falls unexpectedly pregnant and is NOT happy at all, as she wants to leave her abusive husband. But fate intervines and she starts an affair with her married doctor (the lovely Nathan Fillion) which continues throughout her pregnancy and shows her the true meaning of love and happiness. The ending is fantastic and very moving. Watch it, you wont regret it! :-)
