Time Out

...it's a movie-lover's movie, and clear evidence that Parker should push himself a bit more often

I can hardly remember this film, such was its impact on me. Almost nothing to recommend it though it filled in an hour or two.

Rated - 5 starsOrson would be proud

What a joy. An absolutely wonderful little movie, this lived up to my hopes (after its lukewarm critical reception, I did not expect much).

Danny Huston shines (once again) as Orson Welles, on retreat in Italy after a failed marriage - and in light of his Hollywood difficulties - and due to start filming the lead in a trashy swashbuckler called Black Magic. Once in Italy, Welles becomes drawn into a murderous web of conspiracy, tangled within the political struggle of post-war Italy.

It's basically a cute little who-dunnit, that simmers with glamour. Paz Vega provides the sizzle, Diego Luna the melancholy, and Christopher Walken, reliable as ever, sparkles in a small role. But this is Huston's movie and he proves here that he can hold a movie together with this rare leading man appearance.

Simply fabulous. My only criticism is that it's a bit short.
