Sirocco on DVD (1951)
RelatedCritics ReviewsThis pretty blatant imitation of Casablanca was made by Humphrey Bogart's own production company, Santana. Set in Syria in the 1920s, this was by his own admission not one of Bogart's best pictures, but it's still a moodily gripping yarn about gunrunners, political commitment and various other intrigues. What it sadly lacks is a decent heroine — Swedish actress Marta Toren is not in the Ingrid Bergman league — though Lee J Cobb is excellent in what might be termed the Claude Rains part. Halliwell's Film Guide Tedious romantic drama in the Casablanca vein but with none of the magic. Members ReviewsReviews Voted Most HelpfulMost Recent Reviews |
