Brief synopsis of Beijing 2008

The Olympics competition of champions! They might have been around since the ancient world was less ancient, but this is the first time they've been around with all of 2008's accumulated knowledge to spare you the effort of tortuous training to get involved. To go with the games in Beijing, SEGA has Beijing 2008 to save you the hassle of ever having to leave your house as you prove your worth against the world's finest athletes.

There are a whopping 38 events to try your hand at, ranging from the usual staples such as the 100m sprint to less recognised events such as Judo. Much thought has been given to dodging the usual button-mashing mechanics of track and field events. In the 100m, for example, a new start block mechanic has been introduced that makes use of the trigger buttons to get you on your way.

The game features several modes, including the requisite training mode and the option to set up custom competitions. There's also the 'Olympics' mode, in which players must rank highly enough in events to progress. As you go, you'll be able to customise who's on your team, swapping different athletes in and out as you see fit.

What a complete and total dissappointment this game is. First of all to move you need ot rapidly and repeatidly hit the o and x buttons giving you sore fingers. Some training sessions stay blank and you need to reboot your ps3 also not forgetting some games take over and you dont get and not to take part. The game is tedious, tempremental and annoying. I had to send it back and that was a total waste

This game was really really good, there are soooooo many different types of events to participate in, ranging from the usual 100m sprint and 110m hurdles to clay pigeon shooting and gymnastics.

It is load's of fun online too, every event is playable online. And you can track your scors against everyone else in the world.

Yes, it is a button bashing game, and yes it does eventually hurt your fingers, unless your smart (like me ;-) and use something, like a tea towel to protect your fingers, and then you can play for hours without fear of getting a huge blister, lol.

LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!!!!

Rated - 1 starsbring back button bashers!

this game is soo not like the old athletic type games on ps2 and ps1!it is really difficult to play because you have to press so many different buttons. I thought it would be good that it is different to the old button bashing games but its just 2 complex!it doesnt rate you well either seeing as my partner did a good 'vault' routine and i did one and landed on my face and stomach but got more points than him? hmmm strange! worth trying in case you like it but my advice is to leave it!
