This film tries to combine the relationships between the characters with action and adventure, and fails to deliver either. Instead Fool’s Gold left me feeling bored and I started to nod off towards the end.

Problem is it has too many subject matters for the film to focus on and not giving each the attention it deserves.

You have the relationship between Matthew and Kate’s characters, Donald Sutherland’s father and daughter characters, plus the main plot of finding the treasure which should be fairly straightforward but made overcomplicated.

Whereas Indiana Jones series of films manages to combine all of these in a blistering pace, this film wanders in and out from subject matter to the next like the whole film was put together like an afterthought. Maybe this is too ambitious for the director and or the script writers. They should have kept it simple and stick to one thing like adventure in National Treasure or the action in Sahara.

It wasn’t a complete lost thou. It has something to make me want to rewind and find out what I missed during my nap.
