Brief synopsis of Men At Work

In a small, casual beachside community, two garbagemen dream of opening a surf shop. But one day, when their load of trash contains the body of the murdered city councilman, their whole world is turned upside down as the greedy, murderous executive, whose company has been dumping toxic waste into the ocean, attempts to make trash out of them too.

Rating of 2 stars out of 5 Radio Times

Emilio Estevez wrote and directed this comedy actioner about two dustbin men (played by Estevez and his brother Charlie Sheen) who uncover a corpse on their daily clean-up route. Together with a nutty Vietnam vet (Keith David), they attempt to solve the crime and keep their community clean. Unsurprisingly, Sheen and Estevez have a chemistry which charms, though the subject matter and genre require you to watch sans brain. Both actors should really know better.

Los Angeles Times

"...A pleasant, knockabout comedy....It is fresh, inventive and has very few moments when it's not generating laughs..."

Real life brothers Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez try two be heroes in this comedy about to trash men who discover a body in the garbage and unravel a plot to dump toxic waste.

Getting the girl along the way and dodging the police the 2 brothers stumble over each other time after time and by the end it all seemed a little pointless.

Good for a meaningless giggle but not one for the collection.

This film is a reminder of the classic 'Weekend at Bernie's' type slapstick-ish, 80's cheesy comedy and I liked it. Not really one for the collection but definitely good for a Saturday afternoon giggle and nostalgia trip. Plus I like Charlie and Emilio too.

this is a classic 80's care free movie. If made today would be unequivocally bashed, however in the 80s movies like these were the norm. Unbelievable story line but so great to watch on a lazy weekend. Requires no real thought and can miss sections without losing the story. Worth a try as the chemistry between the two brothers is so good and compels you to watch.
