Brief synopsis of NASCAR 09

NASCAR racing. A series of left turns for some, a breathtaking motor sport packed with action and drama for others. It's also an enduring franchise for EA Sports, with the publisher's driving teams not getting a rest for the 2009 season.

If you find the prospect of jumping head first into one of the most testosterone fuelled motor sports going (and, let's face it, they pretty much drive really fast tanks out on the tracks) fills you with trepidation, fear not! Four time Sprint Cup Series Champion, Jeff Gordon, is on hand to guide you through the game.

You might need him, too. This year's entry into the series features an all new career mode that enables you to sign lucrative contracts, build your reputation and earn performance points in four racing series the Sprint Cup Series, the Nationwide Series, the Craftsman truck Series and the Whelan Modified Tour.

Also new this year is the on-line paint booth tool. Players can download a template from the EA Sports website and then it's up to them to make their car the most impressive (or prettiest) on the track.

If you like NASCAR you'll like this

This game is a good game. If you like NASCAR then you should like this game. It is not an arcade game, this is a simulation. Your tyres go off and the damage will really hurt your race pace. This game is not about overtaking 50 cars a minute, you are in for the long haul. The career mode is very engaging yet the online mode is typical EA, ie not very good, fast and very laggy. Hope you appreciate a fair review of the game from someone who is not judging the game harshly simply because it is NASCAR based.

This is an improvement on the last game ,the graphics are great, the gameplay and handling are good .The in game menus are easy to navigate,it also has a helpful help section.The game has lots of settings I particularly liked the garage set up where you can customise your cars,also the custom championship setting is great as you can build a championship with your favourite tracks and miss out the tracks you don't like. On the whole this is a good return to Nascar for EA however the differences between difficulty levels is not gradual but from one extreme to the other.
