Brief synopsis of Battle Fantasia

Developed by arcade veterans Arc System Works, Battle Fantasia is like no other fighter, thanks to its unique cast of fantasy inspired characters, alongside a storyline and script that stays true to its Japanese heritage and manga roots.

In keeping with the fantasy themes of the game, Battle Fantasia also has elements familiar to fans of role-playing games. Instead of having a standard health bar, characters have hit-points that drain away as they take damage. As a result smaller characters have less health but are faster and harder to hit, whereas larger ones can deal greater damage at the cost of a faster pace. This means the gameplay experience is unlike any fighter you've played before.

Battle Fantasia includes a variety of different modes e.g. story, practice, survival, time attack, versus and online multiplayer. What's more, by playing through the story mode, it's possible to unlock new costumes for the fighters, along with a range of artwork by Guilty Gear series legend Emiko Iwasaki.

If you like any of the Guilty Gears Or The Rumble Fish games, this is for you!!! unfortunately this will get looked over for Street Fighter IV, the graphics are amazing and the animation is excellent, there is Street Fighter moves in there with the right character, but does'nt play like it.

The only downer for me is 9 characters and no unlocks and it's only in Stereo!!!

This is a quality beat em up so give this a rent or like me rent then buy it.

I really wanted this to be good, all the preview videos looked awesome, characters well designed and unique, looked great. I didnt count on it playing so badly. The controls are awkward and a little random. Most of the time I was just beating the hell out of the only special moves I could get the game to recognise. The game cant seem to recognise any complex directional input other than quarter circles. I tried for ten minutes to do a back-forward move, and didnt succeed once, rendering Freed the Pirate absolutely useless as most of his specials require this input. The final boss character is totally inbalanced and blocking is a nightmare.

In Summary: The games characters are well designed, and all have their own unique charm (BUNNY WIZARD!) they are let down by a badly thought out fight system with sod all learning curve.

Not my type of game. Didn't enjoy any of the 10 minutes that it survived in my PS3. Hard to recommend.
