If development studio Fun Labs was going for an arcade fishing experience, it missed the point. There are no exotic fish species and the action that comes with hooking a fish is mundane. If the objective was to make a simulation, they forgot to add any features to make it feel real. This game feels like it has no identity and that the only plan the developers had was to make the graphics shiny and hope that people don't notice that they left out the rest of the game.

To be fair the difficulties in creating a thrilling, attention grabbing, don't want to put down game based on a sport which, let's face it, can be somewhat dull are numerous. Rapala FF 2009 attempts to overcome this with flashy, slick graphics, analogue stick casting and reeling, and quick fire button press games. Unfortunately when playing the game all these elements play against each other. If you watch the nice rendered fish swimming through the beautiful underwater backdrop you'll miss the direction changes and button presses required to land the fish. Keep your eye on the direction changes and button presses... well you get the picture. To make things worse there's no variation when luring, hooking and landing different fish or using different rods or bait. This game gets very boring very quickly. Definitely one to throw back overboard.
