Brief synopsis of LEGO Batman: The Videogame

LEGO Batman: The Videogame is the latest game from the award-winning team behind the LEGO Star Wars series of games. With trademark LEGO fun and charm, the game takes you into the world of the ultimate crime-fighting hero.

LEGO Batman: The Videogame brings the one-and-only Caped Crusader to life in a completely original storyline. Players will take control of the Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin, to fight Gotham City's most notorious criminals including The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, Scarecrow, Killer Croc and many more. The criminals have broken out of Arkham Asylum and are set to wreak havoc on the city.

Players will also be able to explore their wicked side and fight their way through the game as the villains, experiencing the game from a completely different point of view with all-new criminal objectives!

With a collection of high-tech suits, gadgets and cutting-edge vehicles on hand, players will be able to step into the unique LEGO Batman universe to bring super villains to justice - or, as the villains, to run amok in Gotham City!

Yes, Lego has once again returned to consoles, this time with a Batman theme (possibly to tie in with a certain multi-million dollar grossing movie). All the usual suspects are here, colourful characters, hidden objects and levels just full to the brim with destructible lego pieces and shiny studs to collect.

If you've never tried the 'Lego' games this is a good one to start with - the levels are shorter than in previous games, which greatly increases the pick-up-and-play value. There's also the added bonus of a greater number of levels as you not only get to play the game as the caped crusader and his sidekick Robin, you also can play as the villains, setting out to conquer Gotham in various devious ways. Once you've completed one of the 'Hero' stories Arkham Asylum is unlocked and you can go there with a simple flick of a switch in the Batcave.

The achievements for the Xbox360 version are all highly do-able and you can easily get 1000 points, though it won't be a quick process, as collecting everything and completing the game to 100% will take quite a while. This is another improvement over the previous instalments, which had some achievements which were remakably difficult or boring to obtain. None in Batman are particularly difficult, they just take some time to get and are mostly involved in playing the game anyway.

The gameplay is almost identical to previous entries, with Batman and Robin having different suits they can wear to give them different abilities and the bad guys each have their own particular talents (for example Riddler can control people's minds, resulting in a little lego person wondering around erratically in the direction you move them). A difference to the other games is that the mini-kits (secret items hidden in every level) are a lot harder to find than in previous instalments. And with so many characters and so many abilities it can get a little confusing when you're trying to find the right one to use for the particular challenge you're facing. But this is the only major gripe in what is otherwise a highly entertaining game, that's great for children and adults alike.

this game is fun and constructive and great if you want a game to pass time. It is a bit shorter than other lego titles but is very fun. Definatly worth a rental.

Rated - 5 starsThe Best Lego Game

A customer from Solihull , 02/01/2009

Im a big fan of the lego games, i have played and completed every lego game on the current generation consoles. Lego Star Wars was great, but too long for my liking, Lego Indiana Jones was too short. However Lego Batman sits perfectly in the middle. Also it has far more memorable characters than any of the other lego games. And Travellers Tales have greatly improved story mode by having both a hero and villain storyline. If you liked any of the lego games or like fun platformers/puzzle games then give this a rent.

Lego Star Wars was good when It came out, Lego Indy was ok, but this is rubbish.

It is exactly the same as the other lego games, run around, kill some baddies collect something, the only thing diffrent is the Batman characters.

If you love playing Lego star war and Lego Indy and want to play a game that is the same thing with diffrent character, then rent this, but if you don't stay away!!!
