Brief synopsis of PlayTV

PlayTV for PlayStation 3 is a utility item-slash-accessory that enables console owners to expand the usefulness of their shiny black machine. All the UK Freeview channels are available via PlayTV. You can pause, rewind and record live on your console, and plan all your viewing with the easy-to-use electronic programme guide. Watching one channel while recording another is possible, thanks to the dual DVB-T Tuner. You can also record TV programmes while playing on your PS3 (the back of box warns that this feature may not be compatible with all game titles). Finally, PlayTV lets you stream live TV from your PS3 to your PSP via a Wireless Internet connection, anywhere in the world.

Excellent Interface

I own PlayTV and highy recommend it. If you do not have Sky and would like the ability to record and rewind telly without another set top box and remote - this is the answer.

The software integrates beautifully with the PS3 (although the hardware should be hidden ouit of sight!) and provides little notifications when recordings start and finish. It works no matter what you do with the PS3 i.e. watch a Blu Ray, play online, switch it off (standby) etc.

There has recently been an update to speed up the programe guide and it is very likely to support series link in the near future (like Freeview+)

We have Cable so we use the PLAYTV to record stuff and watch later or download onto a USB stick. Its easy to do! The Guide is good and it works! Like all digital receivers, you need a good signal to get all the channels!

HINT: To find all the channels, do an automatic channel search! When that completes,you may find some channels are not there! (Bad reception), If this is the case, enter the channel no manually or one by one. you will find the 'missing Channels' and then save them to favourites. They will then show up as a full house!
